Edward Y. Anderson, 79, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died on Saturday September 30, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Berwyn, Illinois, he lived in the Midwest before moving to Brooklyn and then settling in Morgan in 1960. He was employed as a letter carrier for the South Amboy Post Office and also as a realtor. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy as well as the Oregon National Guard. A communicant of The Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Keyport he also belonged to the St. Stanislaus Kostka Thursday Club. He was very active in the community and belonged to the South Amboy Elks Lodge 784, American Legion Post 211 and the Morgan Lions Club for over 45 years. He was a life-long realtor and was past president of the Middlesex County Board of Realtors.

Son of the late Robert and Nancy Baumgardner Anderson he is also predeceased by his wife Lorna “Bonnie” Anderson in 2001, his brother Sonny Anderson, his son-in-law Brian Wegrzyn and his grandson Zachary O’Rourke. He is survived by his daughters Laurel Wegrzyn of Sayreville, Nancy O’Rourke and her husband Aaron of Morgan and Tara DelGandio and her husband Donald of Morgan; his brother and sister-in-law Stewart and Diane Anderson of Victorville, California; his brother-in-law Scott Johnson and his partner Ian London of Tarrytown, New York; his grandchildren Matthew O’Rourke and his wife Bristol of Sayreville, Steven Wegrzyn of Sayreville, Sarah O’Rourke and Christopher, Anderson and Elijah DelGandio all of Morgan and his great-grandchildren Colton and Kinsleigh.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 4, 2017 at 9am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Requiem Eucharist at The Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin 10 East Front Street, Keyport. Interment will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Sayreville First Aid Squad, 776 Washington Road, Sayreville, NJ 08859.
