Harriet J. Banks Cliney, 84, of Matawan died on Saturday June 3, 2017 at Madison Center, Matawan. Born in Newark she lived there all her life until moving to Matawan in 2010. She was an avid swimmer.

Daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy Fisher Banks she is also predeceased by her husband Charles Cliney in 1967; her children Regina George and Amanda, Kenneth and Wanda Cliney and her sister Helen Meadows. She is survived by her daughter Harriet Cliney of Keyport; her stepson Brian Washington of Newark; her sister Mildred Jones of Newark; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Thursday June 8, 2017 from 7 to 9pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street NW, Washington, D.C., 20037.
