Harry C. Applegate III, 79, of Little Egg Harbor died on Friday, April 6, 2018, at home. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived most of his life in the Morgan section of Sayreville before recently moving to Ocean County. He was the co-founder of Amertech Engineering in North Brunswick. Upon graduation from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer, Land Surveyor, Professional Planner, and Certified Municipal Engineer and served as a municipal engineer for Monroe Township and Clark, New Jersey. He was a dedicated boating enthusiast and fisherman and enjoyed traveling and cruising with his wife, family, and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Lillian Lenart Applegate, in 2011. He is survived by his son Harry C. Applegate IV of Little Egg Harbor, his daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Ralph Frontera of Sayreville, his granddaughter Janice Frontera of Sayreville, his brother and sister-in-law William and Linda Applegate of Torrance, California, his sister-in-law and her husband Elizabeth and Edward Kokolus of Carteret, and his brother-in-law and his wife John and Diane Lenart of Port Reading.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 9 a.m. from The Gundrum Service “Home for Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, followed by a 10 a.m. Requiem Eucharist at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 183 Rector Street, Perth Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m.
