James J. Gillette, Sr., 73, of Sayreville died on Friday April 21, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Carbondale, Pennsylvania he lived in Sayreville most his life. A successful local businessman, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Victories Church, Sayreville. A generous philanthropist, he was president of the Sayreville Association for Brain Injured Children and a lifetime honorary member of the South Amboy Elks Lodge #784.

Son of the late Joseph and Marion O’Connor Gillette he is also predeceased by his wife Joan Marie Van Dusen Gillette in 1994; his siblings Joseph Gillette, Frederick Gillette, Rose Marie Walitis, Robert Gillette, Carol Sekelski, Richard Gillette, Edward Gillette, John Gillette and Gary Gillette, Sr. He is survived by his wife Chae “Sue” Pak; his son James J. Gillette, Jr. and his wife Christina of Sayreville; his daughters Lori Ann Gillette of Sayreville and Laura Gillette-Koscinski and her husband Matthew of Monroe Township; his stepchildren Helen Zimmerman and her husband Jeffrey of Manhattan, Sky Janet Pak of Manhattan and Eugene Pak of Brooklyn; his siblings Thomas Gillette of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, William Gillette of Carbondale, Pennsylvania, Linda Matoushek of Waymart, Pennsylvania and Renee Wetherington of Waymart, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren Kylie and Kendyl Koscinski and James III, Kiersten and Dustin Gillette; his step-grandchildren Zadie, Snow and Jeffrey, Jr. Zimmerman and many nieces and nephews.
