Julia F. Schempp Russell, 82, of Old Bridge passed away on Friday July 28, 2017 at home. Born in Brooklyn, New York she lived in South Amboy most of her life. She worked at Amboy Cinemas, South Amboy before being employed as a hostess at the Peter Pank Diner for 17 years. She loved to watch movies, needlepoint and spend time with her family.

Daughter of the late Harry and Betty Murphy Schempp she is also predeceased by her husband Patrick Russell in 1985; her brothers Timmy, Danny, Alfred and Harry Schempp and her sister Elizabeth Antonsen. She is survived by her sons Patrick Russell and his wife Rose of Union Beach, Richard Russell of Old Bridge and Edward Russell and his wife Corinne of South Amboy; her daughters Juliann Ponganis and her husband Anthony of Kingston, Pennsylvania and Tina Hedlund and her husband Alan of West Keansburg; her brother Henry Schempp and his companion Barbara of Virginia; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 31, 2017 at 10am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
