Lois J. Hansen Buckalew, 84, of the Morgan section of Sayreville died on Sunday May 14, 2017 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Brooklyn she lived in Laurence Harbor before moving to Morgan. She retired in 1997 after 32 years as co-owner of Fred’s Sunoco Station in South Amboy and Sayreville. She was a communicant of St. Lawrence R.C. Church, Laurence Harbor, where she was a dedicated member of the Altar Rosary Society.

Daughter of the late Lars and Edith Larsen Hansen she is also predeceased by her husband Frederick “Fritz” Buckalew, Jr. in 1999. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Gary W. and Pamela Buckalew of South River, David A. and Robin Buckalew of South Amboy and James B. and Diane Buckalew of Melbourne Beach, Florida; her sister Dorothy Foley; her grandchildren Ryan, Kristi, Stacy, Elizabeth, Sarah and Matthew and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday May 18, 2017 from 4 to 8pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Funeral services will be held on Friday May 19, 2017 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church. Interment will be in Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Lawrence Church, 109 Laurence Parkway, NJ 08879.
