Marie Penta Vanni, 94, of South Amboy died on Wednesday October 12, 2016 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Brooklyn she lived in South Amboy since 1950. Before retiring she was employed by Charles E. Komar & Son, South Amboy. A member of St. Mary’s Church, South Amboy, she was also a member of the Sacred Heart Senior Citizens. She loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter Lauren, and was an avid reader until the end.

Daughter of the late Frank and Mary Evangelista Penta, she is also predeceased by her husband Joseph Vanni in 2004; her brother Marco Penta and her sisters Lou Megan and Anna Sorrentino. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Tom and Lorie Vanni of South Amboy; her daughter and son-in-law Lorraine and William Easton of Bridgewater; her brother-in-law Francis Vanni of South Amboy; her granddaughter Lauren Vanni; her step-grandchildren Jessica and Paul Easton; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 15, 2016 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
