Abraham B. DeLaRosa, 77, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died on Thursday September 26, 2019 at home. Born in the Philippines he immigrated to the United States in 1957 and lived in San Francisco and New York City before moving to Parlin in 1980. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War he was employed by Verizon in New York City before retiring in 2002. He loved fishing and cooking and enjoyed watching sports and movies. He was very good with his hands and loved building things, doing puzzles and playing chess.
Son of the late Bartolome and Damiana Balbuena DeLaRosa he is also predeceased by his brothers Bartolome DeLaRosa, Jr. and Philip DeLaRosa and his sister Alice Dumadaug. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Perla DeGuzman DeLaRosa; his children Aaron DeLaRosa and his wife Elisabeth of Parlin, Abbey Gayle DeLaRosa of Brooklyn, New York, Rowena DeLaRosa and her husband Jason Hemmerlin of Astoria, Queens and Melanie Kim DeLaRosa of Brooklyn, New York; his siblings Galvin, Roger and Rosie DeLaRosa; his grandchildren Mark DeLaRosa and Benjamin Hemmerlin and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday October 4, 2019 from 4 to 7pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy and also on Saturday October 5 from 10am to 12 noon. A service will be held on Saturday morning. Cremation will be private.
