Jean M. DeBiase Chance, 78, of Sayreville died on Thursday March 22, 2018 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Staten Island she moved to Sayreville in 1965. She was formerly a substitute school teacher at Sacred Heart School, South Amboy. She is also a member of Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy.
Jean was an avid fan of softball and played on the Old Bridge Women’s Softball League for many years. She also enjoyed cooking, spending time in Windham Mountain, New York and loved creating memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Rogers DeBiase she is also predeceased by her son William J. Chance, Jr. in 2017 and her brothers Frank and Victor DeBiase. She is survived by her husband William J. Chance, Sr.; her sons Doug Chance and his wife Diana of Cape Coral, Florida, Ken Chance and his wife Florence of Englishtown and Ralph Chance of Aberdeen; her daughters Holly McDonald and her husband John of Old Bridge and Mary Vreeland and her husband Robert of Fords; her brothers Ralph (Toby) DeBiase of Staten Island and John DeBiase and his wife Diane of Boynton Beach, Florida; her grandchildren Sandra Fitzgerald and her husband Bobby, Robert Vreeland, Jr., Nicole Vreeland, Alyssa Colbert and her husband David, Douglas Chance, Jr., Nicholas Chance, Lucia Chance and Kayla Chance and her great grandchildren Hunnie and Harmony Vreeland and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 26, 2018 at 11am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 5pm.
