Joseph T. Costello, 57, of Hazlet died on Wednesday June 5, 2019 at home. Born in Brooklyn, New York he lived in Hazlet since 1994. Before retiring in September 2018 he was employed as an electrician for the New York Transit Authority. A fan of the racetrack, he loved playing the lottery, reading and eating, especially sushi. He was a hard worker and loved tools, talking on the phone and the Grateful Dead. An avid New York Jets fan, he also enjoyed fishing, watching Family Guy and NCIS and spending time with his dog, Nala, and his daughters.
Son of the late Robert and Theresa Kenny Costello he is also predeceased by his nephew and godson Daniel Costello in 2017. He is survived by his daughters Theresa Costello and her fiancé Michael Donohue of Denver, Colorado and Susie Costello of Hazlet; his brothers Michael Costello and his fiancée Tina Morella of Keyport and Robert Costello and his wife Miriam of Keansburg; his nephews Michael and Brandon Costello; his nephew and godson Michael Ward, Jr.; the Beale’s, Vega’s and Dillon’s and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 8, 2019 at 6:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Saturday from 3 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
