Lester Francis
June 30, 1923 ~ January 16, 2018 (age 94) 94 Years OldLester Francis, 94, of Parlin died on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at Madison Center, Matawan. Born in Jersey City he lived in Parlin for over 40 years. Before retiring he was employed by Congoleum Flooring. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II he was a member of St. Bernadette R.C. Church, Parlin where he was an usher for over 40 years in addition to being the CCD crossing guard. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets.
Son of the late Lester and Margaret Dunn Francis he is also predeceased by his first wife Ruth Iungermann Francis in 1989. He is survived by his wife Lorna Fohs Francis; his son and daughter-in-law Steven and Laurie O’Connell of Old Bridge; his daughter Christine O’Connell of Old Bridge; his grandchildren Christopher O’Connell, Brianne Leach and Hailey and Amber O’Connell; his brother- and sister-in-law Kenneth and Bevlah Fohs of Tennesse; his sister-in-law Barbara Fohs of Old Bridge; his niece Daphne Farparan and his nephews Joseph and Corey Fohs.
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 19, 2018 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette Church, Parlin. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8pm.
