Magdalene “Lynnie” Nagy Liberty, 87, of South Amboy died on Sunday November 18, 2018 at Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center, South Amboy. Born in Keasbey she lived in Sayreville most of her life. A graduate of Perth Amboy High School, she was employed by Acme Markets for 10 years and Mayfair FoodTown for 22 years as a member of Local 464. A member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy she was a member of the Sayreville Seniors Tuesday Club, the St. Stan’s and St. Mary’s Senior Citizens Clubs and the Old Bridge Ladies Auxiliary of Raritan Bay Hospital. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Food Pantry for over 10 years and was known as the carrot cake lady of the St. Mary’s Church blood drives.
Daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Demeter Nagy she is also predeceased by her husband of 52 years Donald V. Liberty in 2004 and her sister Rose Skorupa in 2010. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Donald and Barbara Liberty of South Amboy; her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Rocky Kusic of South Amboy and her grandsons Donny Liberty and his wife Mary and Stephen Liberty and his girlfriend Kristen Housman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 21, 2018 at 10:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, South Amboy. Entombment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery Mausoleum, Parlin. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 256 Augusta Street, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
