Mary Jane Arose Harkins, 86, of Sayreville died on Saturday July 15, 2017 at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in South Amboy she lived there most of her life before moving to New Port Richey, Florida and finally settling in Sayreville. She loved shopping and had an extensive collection of sweaters and shoes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and getting together to celebrate the holidays.

Daughter of the late William and Anna Condon Arose she is also predeceased by her husband Robert J. Harkins, Sr. in 2005. She is survived by her children Robert J. Harkins, Jr. and his wife Anne of South Plainfield, Nancy Kuehner and her husband Eric of Freehold, Kathleen Rodis and her husband Rod of Sayreville, Karen Malyar and her husband Roy of Sewaren, James Harkins, Sr. and his wife Theresa of South Amboy, Lynn Olah and her husband Gregg of Hopelawn, Joan Harkins of South Amboy and Kimberly Tighe and her husband Kevin of Woodbridge; her grandchildren Emily Harkins, Paul Kuehner, Scott Kuehner, Sarah Rodis-Magaw, Rachel Rodis-Jonas, Kelly Malyar-Gavor, Jaclyn Malyar, Amy Malyar-Petrusko, Carly Malyar, James Harkins, Jr., Brian Harkins, Brittany Harkins, Travis Olah, Nicholas Olah, Zachary Tighe and Mackenzie Tighe and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 18, 2017 at 8:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
