Robert Van Clef, 56, of Middletown, died on Saturday November 5, 2016 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Staten Island he lived in Middletown for 20 years. He was employed by White Stone Construction, Queens. A member of St. Catherine Laboure R.C. Church, Middletown, he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 426 and the Msgr. John F. Brady Fourth Degree Assembly, South Amboy. He was a member of the Jersey Shore Running Club, Crossfit Delirium, Eatontown and the Colts Neck Racquet Club. A marathon runner, he also ran Spartan races and triathlons and enjoyed swimming.

Son of the late Robert R.S. and Rose Girello Van Clef, he is survived by his wife Katherine Juliano Van Clef; his daughter Sarah Van Clef of Middletown; his brothers and sisters-in-law George and Trish Van Clef of Toms River and Michael and Paula Van Clef of Great Meadows; his sister Rose Van Clef of Belmar; many nieces and nephews and his dog Calliope.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30am on Thursday November 10, 2016 at St. Catherine Laboure Church, 110 Bray Avenue, Middletown, NJ 07748 followed by interment in New Calvary Cemetery, Sayreville. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 9pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
