Ruth M. Campion O'Leary

Ruth M. Campion O’Leary, 98, of South Amboy died on Friday October 5, 2018 at Care One at Jackson. Born in South Amboy she lived there all her life. Before retiring she was employed by Parkway Fabricators, South Amboy. A member of the South Amboy, St. Mary’s and Sayreville Senior Citizens she was also a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy and the Altar Rosary Society. She was known for crocheting and knitting afghans and making her award winning Irish soda bread.

Daughter of the late David and Agnes Barry Campion she is also predeceased by her husband James M. O’Leary in 1996; her daughter Nancy O’Leary in 1951; her brothers David and James Campion and her sister Rita Taylor. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James M. and Gaynell O’Leary of South Amboy; her daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and John “Jay” Derent of South Amboy and Susan and Thomas Kenny of Jackson; her grandchildren Erin Shamy and her husband Jason, Brian O’Leary and his wife Jean Marie, Aimee Greenbaum and her husband Peter, John Derent and his girlfriend Lauren Sylvester, Meghan Santonacita and her husband Joseph, Kara Jones and her husband Benjamin “Jack" and Shawn Kenny; her great-grandchildren Olivia, Jack and Ava Shamy, Connor and Colin O’Leary, Alex and Luke Greenbaum, Nora and Joseph Santonacita and Kyle and Ryan Jones; her sister-in-law Mary Campion and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 11, 2018 at 9:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South Amboy First Aid Squad, PO Box 328, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
