Alfred C. “Kit” Cutting, Jr., 86, of Staten Island passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday November 18, 2021 at the Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center, South Amboy after a brave battle with brain cancer. Born in Staten Island, he was a lifelong resident, graduating with honors from the New York School of Printing and later retiring from The New York Times as a printer. He kept membership in several typographical unions. A U.S. Army Reserves veteran of both the Vietnam and Korean Wars, he was a member of the New York Post Card Club and the Baseball Hall of Fame. A fan of the New York and San Francisco Giants, he enjoyed music, reading and movies, was a cat lover and was an avid collector with wide interests. He was a dance instructor, church lector and Sunday School teacher.
Son of the late Alfred C., Sr. and Elinor Kurtz Cutting he is survived by his children Cathy Marron and her husband Ralph, Diane DeAngelo, Edward Cutting, Robert Cutting, and Jennifer DiMaria and her husband Vincent; his brother David L. Cutting and his wife Anne; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Cremation was private. Memorial visitation will be on Saturday December 4, 2021 from 11am to 1pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
