Alice H. Ward

Alice Hartje Ward, 75, of Freehold died on Friday June 27, 2025 at Centra State Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Jersey City she was previously employed by New Jersey Bell and Verizon. A loving aunt who adored her nieces and nephews, she was always at basketball, baseball and softball games, theatre performances, recitals and cheer competitions. She enjoyed crocheting for her loved ones.

Daughter of the late Robert and Alice Pilger Hartje she is also predeceased by her siblings Linda Behnen, Robert Hartje and Robyn Morris. She is survived by her loving fiancé Bill Billich; her nephews Ed Behnen and John Morris; her niece Starr Morris; her great-nephews Miles Behnen and JJ Morris; her great-nieces Hailey Krainski and Juliette Behnen and her great-great-nephew Wesley Rockafellow.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 8, 2025 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am service at the First Presbyterian Church of South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
