Barbara Polihrom 94, of Jackson died Monday June 21, 2021 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson. Born in New York City, she lived in Sayreville before moving to Jackson in 1997. She was a member of St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church, Toms River, St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, Perth Amboy and the Metropolitan Greek Chorale. As a member of the Chorale, Barbara performed at Lincoln Center, the Capitol in D.C. and in Greece. She had a beautiful alto voice, which filled the church on every Sunday for over 60 years. She adored her family and her greatest wish was for all of her family members to always be together.
Daughter of the late Paul Georges and Dimitra Benetatos Georges she is also predeceased by her husband, George Polihrom in 1986, her brother, Paul Georges; and her sisters, Helen Volpe and Elizabeth Raymonde and her daughter-in-law Rose Polihrom. She is survived by her children and their spouses, William and Virginia Polihrom of Union, Theodore Polihrom of Old Bridge, Harold J. and Toni Polihrom of Howell, Stacy and George Zalokostas of Spotswood and Elizabeth "Liz" and Jack Kerr of Jackson; her grandchildren Carissa, Stephanie (Jeff), Nicholas, Christopher, Alexander, Christina, Vincent, Kimberly, Dino; 8 great grandchildren Alyssa, Gianna, Christopher, Anthony, Brandon, Joseph, Nicole and Daniel. She was also loved by her "grandchildren" Nicole, Dan, Jenna, Veronica, Evan, Nicole and so many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 23rd from 4-8pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on June 24th at 10am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox church, Wisteria St., Perth Amboy followed by interment at Cloverleaf Memorial Park, Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jersey Shore Animal Center.
