Brian G. McCarthy

Brian Gerald McCarthy, 73, of Woodbridge died on Sunday September 15, 2024 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Staten Island, Brian eventually moved to Plainfield in 1958, where he spent the rest of his childhood. A graduate of Plainfield High School in 1968, Brian was a proud member of their state championship winning football team. Brian attended Butler University after high school, and was a lifelong avid Bulldogs basketball fan. After college, Brian spent most of his career working for Hoffman LaRoche, which later became LabCorp. Brian enjoyed traveling and site-seeing, with his favorite destinations being Colorado and San Francisco. He enjoyed watching movies and reading the local newspaper in his free time, and was very proud to discuss his family lineage and Irish descent.

Son of the late Gerald and Florence McGuigan McCarthy he is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Joanne Lakata McCarthy; his sons Stephen McCarthy and Scott McCarthy and his wife Julianne and his sister Sheila.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday November 9, 2024 at 10am at Divine Mercy Parish, St. Mary Church, 232 Central Avenue, Rahway. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
