Catherine Woods Laverty

Catherine Woods Laverty, 82, of Parlin died on Tuesday November 16, 2021 at home. Born in the Bronx, New York she was a member of St. Bernadette R.C. Church, Parlin and was also a member of their Senior Citizens Club. She loved her family most of all but also loved Bingo, going to Atlantic City, and spending time down the Jersey Shore. A personal proud moment was when she went to night school to get her high school diploma from the same school as her children.

Daughter of the late James P. and Catherine Nolan Woods she is also predeceased by her husband John D. Laverty in 2006; her brothers Thomas, Richard and James Woods and her sisters-in-law Anne, Jeanne, Peggy, Elizabeth and May Woods. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Dennis and Pamela Laverty and Richard and Karen Laverty; her daughter and son-in-law Laureen and John Rasmussen; her brothers Matthew and Patrick Woods; her grandchildren Scott, Eric, Sean, Kyle, Katie Rose and Riley and many nieces and nephews in both the Woods and Laverty families.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 20, 2021 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
