Cheryl Lynn Jacobus, 55, of Laurence Harbor, passed away peacefully at home after a short but courageous battle with cancer on Friday, September 5, 2025, with the ones she loved most by her side.
Born in Perth Amboy, Cheryl built a life filled with family, friendships, and community. She worked at Sentry Aerospares, but her true passion was giving back and filling everyones cup one pour at a time. A life member of the Laurence Harbor Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Cheryl proudly served in multiple postions throughout her time with them. She was also active with the East Brunswick American Legion Post 177 and the Old Bridge Moose Lodge 485, where she formed countless lasting friendships.
Cheryl had a zest for life. She loved the thrill of live concerts, the freedom of being on a motorcycle, and the simple joy of being outdoors. If she wasn't at the lake you would find her gardening, reading a book or in her she shed. But her biggest treasure was time with her family, being an amazing aunt to anyone who walked through her door. She was the kind of person who loved without condition, fought hard through every challenge, and always found a way to show up for those she cared about. If she wasn't hugging you, she was telling you that you were number 1!
She was predeceased by her father, Wallace R. “Brud” Jacobus, Sr. Cheryl leaves behind her devoted mother, Helen Goble Jacobus; her brother, Wallace “Wally” Jacobus, and his partner Karen Ferrier; her life partner, Mark Harris; her stepchildren, Jen and Jeremy Harris, Jaime Harris and his wife Laura, and Becky and Eddie Karecki; her granddaughter Catherine Harris; her angel on earth Kathy Noble, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who knew her as Cher or YaYa; and her beloved dog, Odin, her constant companion.
Cremation was private under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals,” South Amboy.
A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at 12 noon at the Laurence Harbor Fire Department, 20 Laurence Parkway, Laurence Harbor, NJ 08879.
