Dennis Joseph Desmond

Dennis Joseph Desmond, 85, of Hopewell Junction, New York died on Thursday May 25, 2023 at home. Born in Perth Amboy he moved to New York over 3 years ago. A U.S. Navy veteran he was employed by Lucent Technologies until retiring. An avid fan of the New York Yankees he loved hunting and fishing.

Son of the late Joseph and May Freeman Desmond he is also predeceased by his wife Frances Hoffman Desmond in 2008; his daughter Fern Desmond in 2017: his brother Jerald Desmond in 2019 and his nephews Keith “Bro” Desmond in 2017 and Michael Laricy. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Laurie and Ted Sziklas; his grandchildren Charlie and Ben Sziklas and his siblings Maribeth Gerstenberg, Diane West and William Desmond.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at 9:30am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday morning only from 9 to 9:30am.
