Edward F. Erickson of South Amboy, NJ passed away on February 13, 2025 in his home. He was born on April 1, 1936 in Sayreville, NJ and attended Sayreville and South River public schools, graduating South River High School in 1953. He went on to graduate the Rutgers University College of Engineering in 1957. After serving in the US Army, he worked as an electronic engineer for the US Army electronics command in Fort Monmouth, NJ, retiring in 1988. After his retirement he worked at the Frog Hollow Swim and Tennis Club summers between 1988 and 1998.
Ed was a very active Amateur Radio operator holding the callsign W2CVW since 1949. He was a member of the Raritan Valley Amateur Radio Club and a charter life member of the ARRL and served as its Northern New Jersey Section manager between 1963 and 1966. Ed will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who mentored many friends in the hobby.
His other passion was trains. He was a member of the National Railway Historical Society and the New York Railroad Enthusiasts. He traveled around the country to visit and ride many vintage railroads.
Ed was a very private person and will be missed by his close friends.
Cremation and interment in Brig. Gen. W.C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery was under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
