Eleanor K. Mahoney, RN

Eleanor K. Mahoney, RN, 93, of Morgan died peacefully on Thursday October 24, 2024 at home after a long illness. Born in Carteret she was a 1951 graduate of St. Michael’s Nursing School, Newark and worked at Perth Amboy General Hospital, South Amboy Hospital and several nursing homes. A member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy she enjoyed gardening and was a dog lover, but her first love was her husband and family. “Bud and Eleanor” shared a phenomenal 58 year marriage and enjoyed traveling and taking cruises.

She is predeceased by her husband Charles J. “Bud” Mahoney in 2010 and her beloved niece Ann D. Wallace and her husband Bill. She is survived by her sons Glenn Mahoney and his wife Debra and Daniel Mahoney; her granddaughter Danielle and her husband Dave Van Leer; her great-grandchildren Ava and David and her great-niece and great-nephews Sarah, Jeremy and John.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 29, 2024 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. Visitation will be on Monday from 6 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
