Elinor Thompson Holden, 94, of Monroe passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 15, 2025 at her son William’s home. Born in Jersey City she lived in Laurence Harbor most of her life. She was previously employed as a cafeteria worker for Old Bridge Schools. A member of Community Covenant Church, Laurence Harbor she was a Democratic Committeewoman for over 50 years and was active with the Laurence Harbor Little League and Pop Warner Leagues.
Daughter of the late Harold and Emma Moore Thompson she is also predeceased by her husband of 63 years William H. Holden, Jr.; her son-in-law Louis Liberatore; her daughter-in-law Erin Holden and her granddaughter Cheryl. She is survived by her children Marilyn Liberatore, William H. Holden, III and his wife Joyce, John Holden, Gail Taylor, Elizabeth Livingston and her husband Michael, Jill Swartz and her husband James and Charles Holden; her grandchildren William, Michael, Patricia, Amanda, Christian, Jennifer, Charles, Jr., Jessica, Carlie and Kimberly and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 22, 2025 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am service at Community Covenant Church. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Monday from 3 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
