Ellen F. Nunn Hornyak

Ellen F. Nunn Hornyak, 82, of South Amboy died on Saturday January 6, 2024, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in Irvington, she lived in Whiting, Avenel, and St. Croix. Before retiring she was employed by CPS Chemical, Old Bridge. She was a member of the Avenel Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Daughter of the late James Schiele and Doris Ruff she is also predeceased by her daughter Maria Renee in 1968. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Tracey and Robert McCormack; her in-laws Lynn and Robert Derczo; her brothers Jim, Mark and Joe Schiele; her sisters Betsey McGarvey and Janet Jasper, her grandson Jordan Drevelus, her grandson Connor and his girlfriend Alyvia Colon, and her two friends, who are like sisters, Maria Ditore and Janice Fagan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 13, 2024 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Amboy Knights of Columbus where her grandson Jordan is Grand Knight, and her grandson Connor is an associate member.
