Frances Banfield Beshada, of Holmdel, formerly of South Amboy died on Wednesday May 10, 2023 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, she was 79. Born August 29, 1943 in South Amboy, NJ, she was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy. In the 70’s 80’s and 90’s she was the proud owner of the Barn Door Beauty Salon on Broadway. She enjoyed making her customers feel good and made many friends over the years. After her retirement from the beauty industry, Fran was very involved at Sacred Heart in the RCIA program, where she helped welcome people into the Catholic faith. She also liked taking art classes, learning new techniques and making masterpieces to adorn her walls.
Daughter of the late Henry and Mary Vail Banfield she is also predeceased by her husband of over 60 years James Beshada on April 15. She is survived by her daughter Bridget Engle and her husband Mike; her son James Beshada, Jr. and his wife Valarie; her grandchildren Lauren Rametta and her husband John, Ian O’Connor, Evie Engle, Michael Engle, Jr., James W. Beshada, Rebecca Beshada and Erik Beshada, along with her grand-niece Emily Engle. She is also survived by her beloved sister Mary Ellen Brantley and her husband Jarrel, as well as her many nephews and nieces. The light of her life was her great-granddaughters Vera and Mylah Rametta.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 16, 2023 at 8:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Scleroderma Research Foundation.
