Frank T. Campbell, Jr., 74, of South Amboy died on Tuesday May 2, 2023 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born and raised in Brooklyn he lived in South Amboy since 1970. Before retiring he was employed by Con Edison, New York. A U.S. Army veteran he was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church South Amboy and served twice as president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, where he was once honored as Irishman of the Year. He was also a member of American Legion Post 62, South Amboy and the South Amboy Elks Lodge 784.
Son of the late Francis T., Sr. and Katherine Keely Campbell he is also predeceased by his wife Elaine M. Gangi Campbell in 2001 and his brother-in-law Robert Gangi. He is survived by his sons Christopher Campbell and his fiancée Marissa and Joseph Campbell; his significant other Diane Conroy; his brothers John Campbell and his wife Julie and Thomas Campbell and his wife Audrey; his sisters Katherine Powers and her husband Ray and Jane Briscoe and her husband Bill; his granddaughter Marlee Campbell; his sister-in-law Clara Gangi and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 6, 2023 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 9pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Post 62, 7 Grace Drive, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
