Frank “Shinty” Kennedy, 78, of South Amboy died on Thursday December 29, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in South Amboy he lived there all his life. A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War serving in Cam Ranh Bay, he was a member of American Legion Lenape Post 211, Sayreville and St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy. Before retiring he was employed by Hercules, Inc., Parlin. An avid golfer, he attained 3 holes-in-one and especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Son of the late William and Marie Lovely Kennedy he is also predeceased by his brothers James, Thomas and William and his sisters Marie, Betty, Ruth, Margaret and Patricia. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Bulman Kennedy; his son and daughter-in-law Scott and Stacey Kennedy of East Brunswick, and their children Katherine and Kaileigh; his daughter and son-in-law Kaitlin and Bryan Keighery of Charlestown, Massachusetts, and their children Jack, Clare and Gemma; his brother Bob Kennedy of Barnegat; his sister Helen Kovacs of Perth Amboy and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 3, 2023 at 8:30am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:15am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Mary’s Church.
