Frederick R. Hurst

Frederick R. Hurst, 91, of South Amboy died on Wednesday January 28, 2026 at the Menlo Park Veterans Home. Born in Alliance, Ohio he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by Revlon until retiring and was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy. He loved music and making things with his hands.

Son of the late Chestyer Ernest and Mary Mildred Cone Hurst he is also predeceased by his wife Rita J. Tedesco Hurst; his daughter Carla; his daughter-in-law Antonia and his companion Teresa Ackerly. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Ellen Hurst and Frederick “Rick”, Jr. and Claudia Hurst; his grandchildren Robin, Randy and Rory and his brother John Petrakakas.

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 2, 2026 at 6:30pm during visitation from 4 to 7pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Mary’s Food Pantry, 256 Augusta Street, South Amboy.
