George Cattano Obituary

George G. Cattano, 87, of Asbury Park died on Thursday May 7, 2020 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in South Amboy all his life before moving to Asbury Park 6 years ago. He was employed by Indiana General, Keasbey for many years before going on to work for Middlesex County, retiring in the late 1990s. He was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy and the Knights of Columbus. His granddaughters and great-grandchildren were the loves of his life. He enjoyed sitting on the beach and gardening.

Son of the late Thomas and Nettie Dressler Cattano he is also predeceased by his wife Ann Marie Norek Cattano in 1996; his son George J. Cattano; his daughter Kathleen Haug; his son-in-law William Haug; his brothers Thomas, Lawrence, and Albert Cattano and his sister Elizabeth Bushell. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Ann Marie and Michael Samples of Ocean; his granddaughters Amy Smith and her husband James of Farmingdale, Lindsey Klein and her husband Rich of Sayreville, Valerie Barbarise and her husband John of West Long Branch, and Gina Samples of Tinton Falls; his great-grandchildren Addison, Chase, and Ryan, and many nieces and nephews.

Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Amboy was private under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South Amboy First Aid Squad, PO Box 328, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
