George Warren Zulin, 65, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday February 4, 2019 at the Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center, South Amboy. He was born on July 4, 1953 in South Amboy and resided in the Sayreville area all his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class on the USS Suribachi during the Vietnam War. Upon honorable discharge, George met and married Debra Tessler of Fords. Before retiring after 40 years in 2016 he was employed by the A&P warehouse in Edison and also at the Prudential Building in Roseland as a maintenance engineer. He enjoyed the New York Giants, fishing and hunting, coaching baseball, and going to his grandson’s karate classes and sporting events. He also took great pride in his fish tank. A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, he also belonged to VFW Post 4699, Sayreville, American Legion Post 211, Sayreville and Operating Engineers Local 68. He was an Exempt Member and Ex-Chief of Morgan Fire Department.
Son of the late George Zulin he is also predeceased by his grandparents Mildred Pfau and Karl Tonnison and his dogs Ringo and Smoky. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Debra Zulin; his daughter Shana Zulin of Parlin; his mother Wilma Pfau Zulin of Morgan; his sisters Lynette Utter and her husband Frederick of Morgan and Alyeece Zulin Banoczi of Wilmington, North Carolina; his grandson Bryce Warren Charles and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday February 8, 2019 at 11am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 8pm. Interment in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown will be on Monday February 11, 2019 at 1pm.
