Gerard J. Foschini, 83, of Sayreville died on Sunday September 17, 2023 at home with his loved ones by his side. Born in Jersey City he earned his doctorate in mathematics from Stevens Institute of Technology. Gerard had an illustrious and long career as a world famous applied mathematician at Bell Labs in Holmdel, winning awards around the world. He was a devout Catholic and member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy. He had a passion for supporting the wellbeing of children around the world, donating regularly to Doctors Without Borders and Covenant House, among others.
Son of the late Libero and Josephine Foschini he is also predeceased by his wife of 60 years Arlene Balzaretti Foschini in 2021. He is survived by his daughter Darlene Foschini-Field and her husband Shawn; his son Charles Foschini and his wife Ana; his former daughter-in-law Elsa Foschini and his beloved grandchildren Avery Field, Dominic Foschini, Aidan Field and Nicolette Foschini and Sanjai Rambadjan, whom he considered a beloved family member.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am on Wednesday September 27, 2023 at St. Mary’s Church, 256 Augusta Street, followed by entombment in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or Covenant House. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
