Gerard D. Pizzillo, Sr. Obituary

Gerard D. Pizzillo, Sr., 71, of Parlin died on Sunday January 14, 2024 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Jersey City he served as Chief of the South Amboy Police Department until retiring in 2003 and recently served as a Code Enforcement Officer. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy and was an active member and supporter of the South Amboy Historical Society and PBA Local 63. Jerry was also an avid Model A enthusiast. He was a devoted family man, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.


Son of the late Pasquale Pizzillo he is survived by his loving wife Susan Kemble Pizzillo; his sons Gerard D. Pizzillo, Jr.; James Pizzillo and his wife Chelsea; Thomas Pizzillo and his fiancée Nicole Pastor and Joseph Pizzillo; his mother Adeline DeTommaso Pizzillo; his sister Patricia Kodada and her husband Ernest; his granddaughter Sophie; his grandsons Thomas, Jr., Giacomo and Nicolas; his German Shepherd Sadie; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 20, 2024 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South Amboy Historical Society, 141 North Broadway, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
