Helen Kijowski Starace, 94, formerly of Sayreville entered into eternal life on Tuesday July 12, 2022 at Sunrise Reminiscence of Jackson. Born and raised in Perth Amboy she lived in South Amboy moved to Sayreville in 1951 and then to Jackson in 2020. Helen worked as a seamstress before she became a fulltime homemaker having raised her 7 children and many foster children. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy and a founding member of the South Amboy Old Timers Skating Club. She enjoyed roller skating, sewing, crocheting, DIY crafts and flower gardening.
Daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Skorupa Kijowski she is also predeceased by her loving husband Thomas B. Starace; her sons Paul and Ralph Starace; her brothers John, Stanley, Frank, Joseph and Walter Kijowski; her sisters Sophie Motylewski and Eleanor Kijowski and her grandchildren Tamara Mosher and Ralph Starace, Jr. She is survived by her children and their spouses Pat and David Burdynski of Jackson, Joyce Starace of Old Bridge, Robert and Jean Starace of Canisteo, New York, Thomas and Paula Starace of Sayreville and Matthew and Shannon Starace of Old Bridge; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday July 18, 2022 at 11am at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by interment in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 4pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s New Jersey.
