James W. Hess, Jr.

James W Hess Jr, 76, of Brick passed peacefully on September 18, 2021 surrounded by family. Jim was born in South Amboy, raised in Laurence Harbor, and lived in South Amboy for many years before moving to Brick. He was a US Army veteran and a lifetime member of the Laurence Harbor Community Covenant Church. Jim found great joy helping others, and by restoring anything broken. He loved collecting model trains, remote-controlled planes and enjoyed spending time on his boat at Lake George.

He is survived by his loving wife Susan Crane Hess; his daughter Lauryn and her husband Mark Kipper; his son David and his wife Victoria; his daughter Meredith and her husband Lucas Hartman; his daughter Kaileen; his mother Alma; his sister Janyce; his brother Allen and his wife Karen; and his grandchildren Autumn, Megan, David, Ashlyn, Aidan, Caitlyn, and Madalyn.

A receiving of friends and family will be held on Wednesday  September 22, 2021 between 4 and 7 pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue South Amboy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laurence Harbor Community Covenant Church, 22 Laurence Parkway, Laurence Harbor, NJ 08879.
