James Keays, Sr., 73, of South Amboy died on Saturday December 21, 2024 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born on January 19, 1951, he was a lifelong resident of South Amboy. Jim graduated St. Mary’s High School in 1969 and shortly after began a 35 year career at DuPont, Parlin. Jim was an avid sports fan, loved the New York Mets and the Miami Dolphins and was a member of a dart league for many years. He was a music lover, loved to travel and often took cruises and vacations. After retiring, he took up bartending at Lagoda’s just to keep busy.
Son of the late Martin Thomas and Christine Kizinkiewicz Keays he is survived by his sister Cathy Keays; his son Jimmy Keays, Jr.; his stepdaughter Amy Roberts; his grandchildren Liam Roberts and Bethany Cahill and many friends and family.
A memorial service will be held on Monday December 30, 2024 at 4:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation was private. Memorial visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South Amboy Fire Department.
