James Tedesco, 97, of South Amboy died on Monday June 13, 2022 at the Venetian Care & Rehabilitation Center, South Amboy. Born in South Amboy he lived there all his life. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served as a Captain for the South Amboy Police Department until retiring. An avid boater he was a member of the North Palm Beach Power Squadron as well as South Amboy PBA Local 63. He also served as head of Middlesex County Traffic Bureau.
Son of the late Louis J. and Erminia Federici Tedesco he is also predeceased by his wife Janice Meyer Tedesco in 2021; his sister Rita Hurst and his former spouse Dolores Geant Tedesco. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Michael and Susan Tedesco and Keith and Michele Tedesco; his grandchildren Christopher and his wife Amelia, Amy and her partner Kim, Thomas and his wife Amy and Bryan and his wife Alana; his stepdaughter Nancy Sikora and her husband George; his step-grandson Thomas Szot; his brother-in-law Fred Hurst and his great-grandchildren Christopher, Cassandra, Caleigh, Kellan, Hunter, Fletcher and Kade.
Funeral services will be held on Friday June 17, 2022 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
