JoAnne C. Dexter VanAllen

JoAnne C. Dexter VanAllen, 65, of South Amboy died on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at home. Born in Perth Amboy she was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Perth Amboy. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. An animal lover, she especially loved dogs, and enjoyed baking, cooking and reading.

Daughter of the late Thomas Dexter she is survived by her husband Michael J. Matthews; her son Shawn Dexter; her daughters Shannon R. VanAllen and Kathleen Mastromonaco and her husband Anthony; her brothers Thomas Dexter, Jr. and his wife Agnieszka and Fred Dexter and his wife Alma; her grandchildren Madison and AJ and her beloved dog Lady.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 23, 2023 at 1:30pm at The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12 to 2pm.
