Joan A. Duggan Murphy, 91, of South Amboy died on Wednesday November 20, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Milltown. Born in South Amboy she lived there all her life. She was employed by Bell Atlantic and Verizon in Perth Amboy for 36 years. A former member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, she was a member of the Pioneers of America and enjoyed bowling, square dancing and traveling, especially to the Florida Keys, Disney, Tahiti and Bora Bora. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family and going out for lunches and dinners with friends.
Daughter of the late James and Mary Burns Duggan she is also predeceased by her husband Adelbert R. Murphy in 2016. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law JoAnn and John Hage; her grandsons Robert Hage and his wife Catherine and Matthew Hage and her great-granddaughter Matelynn.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 22, 2024 at 10:30am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by an 11:30am Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, Helmetta. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Friday morning only from 9 to 10:30am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the South Amboy First Aid Squad.
