Joan Leaman Vassallo, 82, of Laurence Harbor died on Tuesday July 7, 2026 at home. Born in Jersey City she was previously employed by Apellet Printing and Merrill Printing before retiring in 2015. A lifetime member of St. Lawrence R.C. Church, Laurence Harbor she was also a lifetime member of the Laurence Harbor Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Daughter of the late Alfred and Josephine Gerity Leaman she is also predeceased by her husband Andrew G. Vassallo in 2010; her son Andrew J. Vassallo in 2024 and her brother Alfred F. Leaman in 2020. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law James and Debra Vassallo; her grandchildren Drew, Andrea and Jessie Vassallo; her great-grandson Hunter and her loving niece and caregiver Danielle Kubik.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 14, 2026 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
