John Francis Connors

John Francis Connors, age 97, of Long Beach Township passed away at his home on Sunday, July 28th, 2024. Born in South Amboy, John was previously from Colts Neck and a summer resident of LBI from the 1970’s until moving there permanently five years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II additionally being drafted later for the U.S. Army. John was Senior Vice President of Amerada Hess of NYC where he worked for 50 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a founding member of the Frog Hollow Swim Club, parishioner of St. Mary of South Amboy Church, St. Mary of Colts Neck and St. Francis of Assisi Church of Brant Beach. John was also Councilman for South Amboy.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Clara, and his sister Clarie Belmonte. John is survived by his wife of 69 years, Agnes, their children Agnes Szatkowski, John Connors and his wife Anna Sanz, Michael Connors, Nancy Connolly and her husband Michael, grandchildren Melissa Matier and her husband James, Kyle Szatkowski and his wife Lindsay, his grandchildren Juiliana, John Francis and Bianca, Nicolette and Katarina Connors, Shayne and Maeve Connolly along with his great-grandchildren Grace, Maddie, Jack Matier, Ava and Addison Szatkowski.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday August 13, 2024 at 11:30am at St. Mary's Church, 256 Augusta Street, South Amboy, NJ under the direction of The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy. Cremation was private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
