Jose Antonio “Pito” Beniquez, 75, of South Amboy died on Sunday July 30, 2023 in Puerto Rico. Born in Puerto Rico he grew up in Jersey City before moving to South Amboy. A U.S. Army veteran he enjoyed building and riding motorcycles and road trips with his family. He was a mechanic, truck driver and rigger at Bethlehem Steel and had his own company, Quik Construction. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets and New Jersey Devils
Son of the late Gilberto and Carmen Perez Beniquez he is survived by his wife Rafaela Ayala Beniquez; his son Jose A. Beniquez, Jr.; his daughters Cynthia, Francesca and Alicia Beniquez; his siblings Serafin and Nilda Beniquez and Blanca Rivera Rosa; his grandchildren Juan, Sophia, Kaysha Marie, and Giovanni; his great-grandchild Cheniel Giovanni and his dog Chewie, his buddy.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 10th from 4 to 8pm.
