Joseph L. Redmond, age 57, formerly of the Madison Park section of Old Bridge passed away peacefully on September 26, 2021. Born in South Amboy he was a member of St. Bernadette R.C. Church, Parlin.
He is survived by his siblings, Larry Redmond Jr. (Karen), Terry Dempsey (Jody), Gerard Redmond (Maureen), Bernadette Mooney (John), eight nephews, two nieces, and seven grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence J. Redmond and Gertrude T. Redmond and his brother and best friend Matthew J. Redmond.
Joseph spent his adult life living and working in the loving communities of NJID Group Home Edison, NJ and ATC 1 work program, Port Reading, NJ. He was fondly known as Joey by the many staff and friends there. He was a man of few words but could melt hearts with his perseverance to do whatever he could to participate in life. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially the annual trips to Cape May and birthday parties with family and cousins from far and wide. But, he was most at home with the staff and residents at NJID where he spent over 23 years celebrating life. The family will be forever grateful for his care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at 10:30am at St. Bernadette Church followed by interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. Visitation will be on Wednesday morning only from 9:30 to 10:15am in St. Bernadette Church, 20 Villanova Road, Parlin, NJ 08859. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Jersey Institute for Disabilities, 10A Oak Drive, Edison, NJ 08837. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
