Joyce G. Semoneit Obituary

Joyce G. Semoneit, 91, of South Amboy died on Thursday May 14, 2026 at Reformed Church Home, Old Bridge. Born in South Amboy where she was a lifelong resident. She is predeceased by her parents Harold and Cora and Semoneit.


She was a graduate of Harold G. Hoffman High School in 1952. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Newark State College (now Kean University) in 1965, going on to earn a Master's of Science in Library Science Degree from Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University) in 1968.


Her work experience included that of machine operator at Dupont Photo Products in Parlin, NJ; Senior Clerk at Newark State College's library; librarian at Hightstown Intermediate school, Hightstown, NJ from 1965-1970 and Media Specialist/ librarian at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ from 1970-2005, where she attained the rank of full Professor.


She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association, National Education Association, American Library Association and The Order of Pythian Sisters. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, South Amboy, having taught Sunday School and served on church committees.


She is survived by her cousin Dawn Anderson, Dawn's husband Shawn and their children, Ian Anderson and Erin Parise. She is also survived by her family member Pauline Semoneit and dear neighbor, Marie Beyers and family.


Visitation will be on Friday June 5, 2026 from 9 to 10am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 815 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a funeral service at 10am. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy.
