June Margaret Stolte O'Leary

June Margaret Stolte O’Leary, 86, died Saturday, July 6, 2024 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Born in South Amboy, New Jersey, where she lived all her life until moving to Virginia in 2022. She was a member of St. Mary Church in South Amboy. She was a graduate of St. Mary High School in South Amboy and St. Joseph's Nursing School in Paterson, New Jersey. June served proudly in the United States Air Force Nurse Corps. Before retiring, she was a Registered Nurse at South Amboy Memorial Hospital.

Daughter of the late John and Florence Dey Stolte, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, William E. “Doc” O’Leary, in 1997 and her brothers, Vernon, John, Michael and Armand Stolte. She is survived by her loving children, Thomas M. O’Leary and Karen Bush, Flossie O’Leary and Scott Smith, William G. O’Leary and Brenda Geer and June Marie and Kevin Moran; her 5 grandchildren, Deirdre (Tyler) Wiggins, Mary and Brian O’Leary, Maggie and William Moran; her great grandson, Jude Wiggins; her sister, Florence McCarthy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

June served as first ward Democratic committeewoman and as secretary of the South Amboy women’s bowling league, each for approximately 40 years.

June loved her faith, her parish, her dear husband, her family, bowling and baseball, especially her Yankees.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 13, 2024 at 10:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. Interment will be in Christ Church Cemetery, South Amboy. Visitation will be on Friday from 3 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 256 Augusta Street, South Amboy.
