Kathleen Conroy Burns Obituary

Kathleen Conroy Burns, 97, of South Amboy died on Tuesday July 29, 2025 at Roosevelt Care Center, Old Bridge. Born in Elizabeth she was employed as Director of Risk Management at South Amboy Hospital until retiring. Kathleen was instrumental in starting the residency training program for new doctors, and was on the forefront of instituting Risk Management programs at the hospital. A Registered Nurse, she was a member of the Women’s Army Nursing Cadets in World War II.  A member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy she was also a member of the Senior Citizens and the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Kathleen loved hosting big holiday family gatherings, and occasional trips to Atlantic City. As a young girl in Point Pleasant and Manasquan, to many years in Atlantic Highlands with her tribe of five, to the past fifteen years in Ocean City, Kathleen loved the sand under her feet and the warm ocean breezes. Her most ardent hobby was tracing her family and extended family’s genealogy.

Daughter of the late Joseph, Sr. and Margaret O’Neill Conroy she is also predeceased by her husband of 50 years Hilary S.
