Leon R. Credico, 87, of South Amboy died on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in South Amboy he lived there all his life. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy he was employed by PSE&G in New Brunswick for 37 years until retiring in 1990. A faithful member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy; he was also a member of American Legion Post 62.
Son of the late Leo N. and Rose Tedesco Credico he is also predeceased by his brother John Credico; his sister Teresa Nolan and his nephews Robert Credico and John Nolan. Leon is also predeceased by his two loves Julie and Gerry. He is survived by his daughters, Linda O’Leary and Kerry Bosley, and cousin, Cheryl Ridenour. Also surviving are his grandson, Patrick McCurdy with his wife Megan McCurdy, his great grandchildren Logan and Emelia, and numerous other people who considered Leon family.
Leon was a charismatic storyteller. He loved sharing his life and experiences with the people he loved. He walked the path of South Amboy Waterfront and stopped for coffee with his best friends daily. Later in life he found a love for taking winter cruises to warm destinations. Leon was a loving father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed.
As anyone who has ever met Leon has said, “Thank God for Leon.”
Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 4, 2023 at 9:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Legion Post 62, 7 Grace Drive, South Amboy, NJ 08879.
