Lorry Serenson Mahoney, 73, of Matawan died on Wednesday December 18, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in Manhattan she grew up in the neighborhood of Chelsea and attended St. Francis Xavier Grammar School on 17th Street and St. Michael’s High School on West 33rd Street. She was previously employed by American Airlines for 7 years and then for the East Brunswick Social Security Office for 20 years. A devout Catholic and member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church, South Amboy she loved and had a personal relationship with Jesus, maintaining a long list of prayer intentions. Lorry was an active volunteer with many organizations over many years and was an involved team mom for her children’s football, baseball and ice hockey. In more recent years she enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s events.
Daughter of the late Raymond and Josephine Garcia Serenson she is survived by her husband Timothy C. Mahoney; her sons Timothy J. Mahoney and his wife Heather and Daniel Mahoney; her sister June Butler and her grandchildren Lincoln, Andrew, Timmy, Jack and Matthew.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 23, 2024 at 10:15am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church. A graveside service will be held on Thursday December 26 at 10am at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12 to 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
