Maria Matos Sapata

Maria Matos Sapata, 75, of Parlin died on Thursday December 8, 2022 at home. Born in Murtosa, Portgual she was previously employed as a school aide at Madison Park School. A member of St. Bernadette R.C. Church, Parlin she loved gardening and flowers.

Daughter of the late Ireneu and Maria Albertina da Silva de Matos she is also predeceased by her brother Jose Matos and her sister Rosa Pinho. She is survived by her husband Manuel Pinho Sapata; her sons Manuel M. Sapata and Joao M Sapata and his wife Patricia; her brother L. Henrique Matos and his wife Phoebe; her sister Maria Albertina Oliveira; her grandchildren John J. and Nicholas M. Sapata; her sister-in-law Maria Guzzi and her husband Anthony; her nephews Ernesto Oliveira, Orlando and John Pinho and John Matos and her niece Sherry Weatherall.

Funeral services will be held on Monday December 12, 2022 at 8:45am from The Gundrum Service “Home For Funerals” 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy followed by a 9:30am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bernadette Church, Parlin. Interment will be in New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 5pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
